In 35 minutes you will calculate VAC from the budget at completion and the estimate at completion. You will also subtract in the same order every time, so negative always means an overrun. And you will present VAC as a forecast, with its assumption, and update it every period.

Description

Who it’s for: Anyone who has to say where a project will land, and what it will take to pull it back.

What happens in it: a short film shows a report that says “R60,000 over”, the forecast behind it, and where the project will really land. In Your call you make the decisions in a real case: building a truck maintenance depot for our freight company, on a total budget of R6,000,000. The project is 40% complete, an earned value of R2,400,000, and the actual cost to date is R2,700,000. The board asks how far over or under budget the depot will finish. Then, in the boardroom, you make the case to Lysander, the project manager, in three questions.

How it works: five scenes in about 35 minutes: the data film, the lesson, Your call, practice with fresh numbers that mark themselves, and the boardroom. Finish all five for your certificate. It is course 4 of 5 in the Forecasting and recovery season of the Project Management series.
