Description
Who it’s for: Anyone carrying risk on a project who needs to know whether the contingency will hold.
What happens in it: a short film shows a frightening risk, a likely one, and the rand value that ranks them. In Your call you make the decisions in a real case: upgrading the cold rooms at Sunvale Orchards’ fruit packhouse, a R3,000,000 job with a R100,000 contingency. Four risks are open: the compressors arrive late (25% chance, R160,000 impact, based on the importer’s last twelve deliveries), the old insulation panels contain hazardous material (10%, R300,000, from the lab sample), planned power cuts stop the commissioning tests (50%, R60,000, from the utility’s schedule this season) and the packhouse refuses access during the harvest peak (20%, R250,000, from last year’s access log). The owner wants to know which risk to worry about most. Then, in the boardroom, you make the case to Marguerite, the project manager, in three questions.
How it works: five scenes in about 35 minutes: the data film, the lesson, Your call, practice with fresh numbers that mark themselves, and the boardroom. Finish all five for your certificate. It is course 1 of 5 in the Risk and issues season of the Project Management series.
