Description
Who it’s for: Anyone carrying risk on a project who needs to know whether the contingency will hold.
What happens in it: a short film shows a register that looks half cleared, the rand that is still at risk, and how much of it the team removed. In Your call you make the decisions in a real case: upgrading the water treatment works for the town of Cedar Hollow, a R6,000,000 job that started with twelve risks and a total risk exposure of R400,000. The project is now 55% complete. Six risks have closed, removing R180,000 of exposure, and two new risks have been added with R40,000 of exposure between them. The current total risk exposure of open risks is R260,000. The town’s project steering committee asks how much of the project’s risk has been dealt with. Then, in the boardroom, you make the case to Beatrice, the project manager, in three questions.
How it works: five scenes in about 35 minutes: the data film, the lesson, Your call, practice with fresh numbers that mark themselves, and the boardroom. Finish all five for your certificate. It is course 4 of 5 in the Risk and issues season of the Project Management series.
