Description

Who it’s for: Anyone in a store or a retail head office who has to answer one question: How many times did your stock turn over, and what is hiding in the average?

What happens in it: Watch the idea unfold: what the store sold, the average stock it held, and how many times that stock turned over. In Your call you make the decisions in a real case: I’ve just received the quarterly stock report. The headline figure: inventory turnover of 5.0. Our operations director wants to know whether the warehouse is running efficiently. Lucas Sutherland, our warehouse lead, is going through the numbers with me. “Five is solid for sports goods,” he says. “You should be happy with that.” The report shows 18,000 units sold against average stock of 3,600 units over the quarter. Then, in the boardroom, you make the case to Frederick, the operations director, in three questions.

How it works: five scenes in about 35 minutes: the data film, the lesson, Your call, practice with fresh numbers that mark themselves, and the boardroom. Finish all five for your certificate. It is course 1 of 6 in the Stock and buying season of the Retail series.
