Description

Who it’s for: Anyone planning people across projects who needs to know whether the team is stretched or just badly scheduled.

What happens in it: a short film shows a labour bill over plan, the same hours as planned, and the price of each hour. In Your call you make the decisions in a real case: fitting out a new call center for Brannock Insurance. The project has a fully loaded budget rate of R130 per hour of work. So far the team, contractors included, has worked 3,300 hours, and the full labour cost to date is R462,000. The team had 4,200 hours available over the same period. The finance team wants to know whether labour is costing what the budget assumed. Then, in the boardroom, you make the case to Dorothea, the project manager, in three questions.

How it works: five scenes in about 35 minutes: the data film, the lesson, Your call, practice with fresh numbers that mark themselves, and the boardroom. Finish all five for your certificate. It is course 4 of 5 in the Resources and capacity season of the Project Management series.
