In 35 minutes you will calculate the gap from hours needed and hours available to finish. You will also read the sign: positive is short, negative is spare. And you will check the gap by skill, using realistic available hours and a fresh estimate.

Description

Who it’s for: Anyone planning people across projects who needs to know whether the team is stretched or just badly scheduled.

What happens in it: a short film shows five months to go, the same team, and the hours that don’t add up. In Your call you make the decisions in a real case: installing rooftop solar systems on a group of farm buildings. I have 3 months left on the plan and a team of 6, each with 160 available hours a month after leave; their contracts are for 176 hours. The owner has added two more cold rooms to the scope, and the team has re-estimated the remaining work at 3,360 hours. The owner wants to know whether we can still finish on time. Then, in the boardroom, you make the case to Juliet, the project manager, in three questions.

How it works: five scenes in about 35 minutes: the data film, the lesson, Your call, practice with fresh numbers that mark themselves, and the boardroom. Finish all five for your certificate. It is course 3 of 5 in the Resources and capacity season of the Project Management series.
