Description
Who it’s for: Anyone in a store or a retail head office who has to answer one question: Is the stock on your shelves earning its keep?
What happens in it: Watch the idea unfold: a range with a healthy profit, the cash tied up in its stock, and the number that shows what each rand of stock earns. In Your call you make the decisions in a real case: I’m reviewing two categories for the next buying cycle. Tents made R2,100,000 in gross profit last year on average stock of R700,000. Camping chairs made R480,000 on average stock of R120,000. My regional manager, Brett Sanderson, wants to know which category deserves more warehouse space next season. Then, in the boardroom, you make the case to Clifford, the merchandise director, in three questions.
How it works: five scenes in about 35 minutes: the data film, the lesson, Your call, practice with fresh numbers that mark themselves, and the boardroom. Finish all five for your certificate. It is course 4 of 6 in the Margin and profit season of the Retail series.
