Description
Who it’s for: Anyone overseeing several projects at once who needs to know which of them need attention.
What happens in it: a short film shows a team with room to spare on paper, the hours it really gives, and the overload hiding in between. In Your call you make the decisions in a real case: I plan a shared team of 14 engineers and technicians at Wolf Creek Engineering. Our approved projects need 5,300 hours from the team next quarter. We have also bid on a school upgrade that would need 1,000 hours next quarter, with a 60% chance of being won. Each team member is contracted for 480 hours a quarter, but after leave, training, travel and admin each gives about 380 project hours. The partners want to know whether the team can cover next quarter’s work. Then, in the boardroom, you make the case to Geneva, the resource manager, in three questions.
How it works: five scenes in about 35 minutes: the data film, the lesson, Your call, practice with fresh numbers that mark themselves, and the boardroom. Finish all five for your certificate. It is course 4 of 5 in the Portfolio view season of the Project Management series.
