Description
Who it’s for: Anyone overseeing several projects at once who needs to know which of them need attention.
What happens in it: a short film shows five projects, one tempting average, and the total that weighs every job by its real size. In Your call you make the decisions in a real case: I run the project office at Copper Basin Civil, with four Redbud County infrastructure projects open at the 31 August status date. The road upgrade has earned R3,000,000 for R3,400,000 spent; the stormwater project R800,000 for R640,000; the bus shelters R500,000 for R400,000; and the water reservoir R1,700,000 for R1,760,000. The county wants one figure for cost performance across the portfolio. Then, in the boardroom, you make the case to Gretchen, the head of the project office, in three questions.
How it works: five scenes in about 35 minutes: the data film, the lesson, Your call, practice with fresh numbers that mark themselves, and the boardroom. Finish all five for your certificate. It is course 1 of 5 in the Portfolio view season of the Project Management series.
