Description
Who it’s for: Anyone who has to show, in money, whether a project was worth doing.
What happens in it: a short film shows a fit-out sold on a 69% return, the costs left out, and the period nobody stated. In Your call you make the decisions in a real case: preparing the business case for a route-planning system at Swiftline Couriers. It costs R1,500,000 to buy and install, plus R60,000 to train the drivers and dispatchers. It should save R640,000 a year in fuel and overtime, and the software licences will cost R90,000 a year. The board compares every proposal on its ROI over five years, and I need the figure for the board pack. Then, in the boardroom, you make the case to Nathaniel, the project manager, in three questions.
How it works: five scenes in about 35 minutes: the data film, the lesson, Your call, practice with fresh numbers that mark themselves, and the boardroom. Finish all five for your certificate. It is course 2 of 5 in the Value and benefits season of the Project Management series.
