Description
Who it’s for: Anyone carrying risk on a project who needs to know whether the contingency will hold.
What happens in it: a short film shows a contingency being drawn down, a project halfway done, and the two numbers read side by side. In Your call you make the decisions in a real case: installing a rooftop solar system on Oakmere Plaza, a shopping centre. It is a R2,500,000 job with a R200,000 contingency. The project is 40% complete, and R140,000 has been drawn from the contingency so far. The centre’s owner asks whether the contingency is being used at a sensible rate. Then, in the boardroom, you make the case to Lorraine, the project manager, in three questions.
How it works: five scenes in about 35 minutes: the data film, the lesson, Your call, practice with fresh numbers that mark themselves, and the boardroom. Finish all five for your certificate. It is course 3 of 5 in the Risk and issues season of the Project Management series.
