Description
Who it’s for: Anyone carrying risk on a project who needs to know whether the contingency will hold.
What happens in it: a short film shows a contingency half spent, the risks still waiting, and the ratio that shows the gap. In Your call you make the decisions in a real case: refurbishing the main kitchen at Lindenwood General Hospital, a R4,000,000 job that started with a R300,000 contingency. R180,000 has been spent on three risks that occurred and are now closed. Four risks are still open: corroded extraction ducting (50% chance, R180,000 impact), a phasing failure that stops meal service (20%, R200,000), late delivery of imported combi ovens (15%, R100,000) and grease trap replacement (25%, R60,000). The hospital’s finance committee asks whether the project is still protected. Then, in the boardroom, you make the case to Augustina, the project manager, in three questions.
How it works: five scenes in about 35 minutes: the data film, the lesson, Your call, practice with fresh numbers that mark themselves, and the boardroom. Finish all five for your certificate. It is course 2 of 5 in the Risk and issues season of the Project Management series.
