Description
Who it’s for: Anyone accountable for what gets shipped, who needs to know what rework and defects are really costing.
What happens in it: a short film shows a snag list that sounds fine, the items behind it, and the number that makes it fair. In Your call you make the decisions in a real case: the quality manager on a 40-unit student residence. My team has finished the internal inspection of the first two floors. We checked 640 items: doors, windows, sockets, taps, built-in cupboards and tiling. The combined snag list has 55 entries, but 7 are the same faults logged by both the site agent and the clerk of works, so there are 48 separate defects. The developer asks whether the finishing standard is acceptable before the remaining floors are done. Then, in the boardroom, you make the case to Josephine, the quality manager, in three questions.
How it works: five scenes in about 35 minutes: the data film, the lesson, Your call, practice with fresh numbers that mark themselves, and the boardroom. Finish all five for your certificate. It is course 1 of 5 in the Quality season of the Project Management series.
